Wandering Basses
Carlo Maria Paulesu and Marco Baronchelli form the basso continuo section of the filoBarocco ensemble since 2018. Their special artistic affinity led them to create a duo project where they can explore in detail the expressive characteristics of their instruments, the cello and the lute, and put them at the service of a Baroque repertoire that engages with the styles of European musical tradition, which they have explored in countless listening sessions and travels throughout Europe.
The result is a metanarrative where the two protagonists of the story, the “Wandering Basses”, actually coincide with the narrators themselves. The itinerary will lead the two travellers and the audience to discover the secret links that exist between the ancient roots of classical Baroque music and those of traditional music, both nourished by a strong expressive, evocative and virtuosic will, composed of accentuated contrasts and abundant ornamentation.
